Cricket Asylum coaches heading to the Junior World Series in 2023

Updated: Sep 25, 2022

Since giving it a go back in 2014 Indoor Cricket has steadily grown in popularity here at The Cricket Asylum, and over recent years have joined forces with the national governing body for the sport, Action Indoor Cricket England. We have provided a pathway for talented indoor players to play this fast paced format in National competitions down in Birmingham and now some even bigger opportunities are on the horizon for both our players and coaching team...

Longstanding Cricket Asylum Head Coach Matt Dawson has recently been named as the England 15 & under boys Lead Coach, with our younger coach Jordan Croft named as 13 & under and 15 & under assistant Coach. Also Pete Staley, who has been instrumental in developing TCA's pathway into Nationals and the partnership with Action Indoor Cricket, has been named manager of the 13 & under and 15 & under boys teams.

Our three men will be heading off to the Junior World Series in September 2023 to compete against junior national teams from around the globe, with a comprehensive training program to be delivered in the lead up to the big event. Hopefully a few players from our upcoming Autumn Blitz tournament will be part of the touring squads too, high performers from the Autumn Blitz will be invited to trial for the Cricket Asylum Northern Star representative squads who will compete in Nationals throughout the winter, and it's from this competition that the national squads will be selected!

With tournaments for u11, u13, u16, Women & Girls and Masters now is the time to register for the Autumn Blitz Indoor Tournament -deadline for entry Wednesday 7th September!

'Action Indoor Cricket England are delighted to have this talented trio of coaches on board for our next junior international campaign. Recognising quality and commitment to developing the Indoor format across the country, I am really excited to be working with Matt, Pete, Jordan and all at the Cricket Asylum moving forward.' Duncan Norris AICE Chairman

The Autumn Blitz and Winter Bash tournaments held at TCA HQ in Sowerby Bridge are the first foot on the indoor cricket ladder, local teams compete in 8 week tournaments and get their first taste Indoor Cricket. Our Indoor Cricket offering includes tournaments for u11s, u13s, u16s, over 40s, open age and a Women & Girls tournament who also sent a representative team down to Birmingham last winter. A highlight has undoubtedly been when the Cricket Asylum Northern Star under 11 representative team were crowned National champions in 2021, a sign of things to come when it comes to showcasing Indoor Cricket talent from the North of England on the National and International stage.
